Sports Council organizes events throughout the year to engage the IIMB community. The students, faculty and even the alumni turns up and participate in the events passionately.
This is a four-way sports meet between IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta and Lucknow. Each IIM takes turns in being the host. It is tentatively held during the third term of the academic year and is the biggest inter-IIM sports meet.
Sangram is the traditional sports tournament between IIMs of South India (IIMB, IIMK, IIMT and IIMV). This is tentatively held during the second term of the year. Sangram is usually hosted by IIM Bangalore or IIM Kozhikode.
Shaurya is an Alumni-Student sports tournament conducted by the Student Alumni Committee in association with Sports Council of IIMB. Over the years, Shaurya has seen enthusiastic participation of alumni from many batches – and it has been an interesting platform for both the alumni and the students to display their team-spirit and sportsmanship in a friendly yet competitive tournament.
Icebreaker tournament is held in the second week of the first term of the incoming PGP1 batch. The objective of the tournament is to welcome the new batch to the sports culture at IIMB, and more importantly give them an opportunity to interact with their batchmates in an informal setting. Events are played in the inter-section format.
Spardha is the Inter-Section (PGP1 and PGP2 combined) competition conducted in the first term. It is the biggest event for the residential students, and the objective is to ensure high participation, that also ensures healthy competition, and increased camaraderie through sport.
Twaran is IIMB’s annual community run. The event as part of the Joy of Giving Week, aims to bring together everyone at IIMB to support ‘running for a cause’. Twaran brings together all the people connected to our institute including students, alumni, faculty, residents, mess and administration staff.
Foundation Day Cup
Foundation Day Cup is organized in the second term, to coincide with the Foundation Day (October 28) celebrations of the institute. The competition provides a platform for informal interaction between everyone who is part of the IIMB Community. Teams from PGP, FPM, PGSEM, EPGP, Exchange Students, Faculty, Officers, Staff including Hostel & Mess, MDC and Security teams compete in around 7 events.
